Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire resides in a quiet area of Montreal Island, which is known as West Island. The West Island can be confusing to those unfamiliar with its meaning. It is often believed that it's an island located west of Montreal however the West Island encompasses everything between the cities that are Lachine and West. Amanda Brugel was born there however her stay there was short. Brugel developed on Courtice located just outside Oshawa in Ontario. She had a dream to be a dancer but an increase in her height meant that she literally outgrew the dancers she was with. In an article published by The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall, even when she wears heels. As I grew older than my male friends, I quit. Some former dancers switch into acting. In Brugel's situation, it was the nudge of a high school drama teacher that encouraged her to go in that direction. She was recommended by a teacher getting a part in the school's annual play. The teacher who suggested she go after a role in the school's annual show. It was the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she studied Theatre and received an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts in 2000. In the past 20 years, her work has been seen on the small and large screen. Her work gained most attention when she won her character of Rita in the award-winning television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian actor in the season 1 and was only seen at times.
